Sacundin Project
The Sacundin Project offers the most iconic songs of samba rock in a "power trio" version, with generous additions of Gilberto Gil's tropicalism and more recent contributions from Lenine to Seu Jorge. Samba rock was born in Brazil at the end of the 1960s by mixing Brazilian popular music with funk, soul and rock and was brought to global success by artists such as Jorge Ben and the sparkling Trio Mocotò; now presenting it again on our stages are Pai Benni (vocals and guitar) and Romano Baldassi (bass), a pair with a long-standing harmony that led to the foundation of the Banda Berimbau, together with Marino Bonazza (drums) who had already quickly joined they just returned from a long stay in Brazil. They find themselves together after years for this new musical adventure which combines the freshness and enthusiasm of their beginnings with the rich experiences gained.
Among Benni and Romano's most significant collaborations are their recent European shows with Brazilian Fabio Allman, former lead singer of Rio de Janeiro's Monobloco, with whom they have performed over the last decade at Latino Life in the Park in London, the Megasamba festival in Sesimbra (Portugal), the international samba festival in Coburg (Germany), the Brasil Fest in Brno (Czech Republic), and several times at the Lisbon Carnival and Trieste Estate, always accompanied by a rhythmic selection from Banda Berimbau. Among the most distant memories are the opening of Gilberto Gil's show at the Sunsplash festival (2002), again together with the Banda Berimbau, and finally for Benni, despite the decidedly informal situations, the performance in a Tarvisian inn together with Jorge Ben remains unforgettable. and a half-drunk with the legendary members of the Trio Mocotó at the end of the Brasil Samberfest in Trieste: beleza, beleza, beleza!!!
